Rui-Tong Wang was named to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra second violin section with the beginning of the 1995-96 season. She was a violinist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra prior to her appointment in Pittsburgh.

Ms. Wang was born in China and received her early music training there. She earned her undergraduate degree at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. At the State University of New York at Stony Brook, she was awarded her Master of Arts degree in 1991. She has done further graduate study at SUNY Stony Brook, as well as the University of Maryland.

Her previous orchestra affiliations include the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, Central Philharmonic Orchestra of China, Tchaikovsky Chamber Orchestra, Grand Teton Music Festival and the Columbus Symphony.
