Alexander Vinogradov

Born in Moscow in 1976, internationally celebrated bass Alexander Vinogradov made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre at the age of 21 as Oroveso in Norma. He has worked with many leading conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim, Kent Nagano, Vladimir Jurowski, Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Philippe Jordan, Yuri Temirkhanov, Vasily Petrenko, Helmuth Rilling,  Placido Domingo, Zubin Mehta and Myung-Whun Chung, and has won numerous competitions.

 

This season’s concert highlights will include the Glagolitic Mass with Sir Mark Elder and the Hallé Orchestra in San Sebastian, Shostakovich 13th Symphony at Paris Opera with Philippe Yordan, Shostakovich 14th Symphony with Vasily Petrenko and the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Shostakovich’s ‘Song of the Forests’ with Fundacion Principe de Asturias. Operatic highlights will include Escamillo in Carmen at Royal Danish Opera and Opera de Toulon, Don Basilio at Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin and Aalborg Kongres and Kultur Center, Gremin in Teatro Reggio di Torino. Alexander will also record songs by Rachmaninoff with pianist Iain Burnside at Edinburgh’s Queens Hall on the Delphian label. 

Highlights of the last season include Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Orveso in Norma at Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Verdi Requiem at the Vienna State opera with Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala under Barenboim, Mahler 8th Symphony in Los Angeles and Caracas under Gustavo Dudamel, Salieri in Mozart and Salieri with the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, Roméo et Juliette at Palm Beach Opera, Barbiere di Siviglia in San Diego, Escamillo in Carmen at Teatro la Fenice, Arena di Verona and Mephistopheles in Faust in Montreal.

Alexander has appeared at many Festivals and Opera Houses around the world, including Teatro alla Scala Milan, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opera National de Paris, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro La Fenice, Theatre du Chatelet, Ravinia Festival, Macerata festival, Gergiev Festival, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Opera de Lyon, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Semperoper Dresden, Santa Fe Opera, Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, Washington National Opera, Teatro Teresa Carreño Caracas, New National Theatre Tokyo, Hollywood Bowl, Florida Grand Opera, Vlaamse Opera, Teatro Carlo Felice, Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi Trieste, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Teatro Massimo Catania, Teatro de la Maestranza and Arena di Verona.

He has performed with orchestras such as Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester, London Philharmonic, RAI Torino, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, Brabants Orkest, Montreal Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Russian National Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Amsterdam, Goulbenikian Foundation in Lissabon.

Alexander Vinogadov currently lives in Berlin, Germany, where he also teaches singing at the Hochschule für Music Hanns Eisler. He continues to study with Svetlana Nesterenko.
