Erina Laraby- Goldwasser joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra viola section in 2007. Previous to this appointment, she was a member of the Detroit Symphony and a substitute with the Cleveland Orchestra.

Originally from Rochester, NY, Goldwasser began violin studies at age 7 and eventually enrolled in the Eastman School of Music as a teenager, studying with Zvi Zeitlin. Transferring to the Cleveland Institute of Music, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in violin, and then switched to the viola, under the guidance of Robert Vernon.

She has been invited to the festivals of Encore, Taos, Music Academy and Verbier, and has participated in master classes with Nobuko Imai, Yuri Bashmet, and Donald Weilerstein along with the Juilliard and the Emerson string quartets.

Goldwasser plays a viola crafted in Venice, circa 1750, attributed to Domenico Busan.
